Referral desk

For referring dentists

Send your patient with what we need, and we do the rest: we call them, treat the tooth and write back to you. Your patient returns to you for the permanent restoration.

What helps us most

  • The tooth number and what you want us to look at

  • A recent radiograph of the tooth

  • The patient's phone number and plan details

  • Medical history and medicines, through the secure form only

What you get back

  • A written report

What we found, what we did and the new radiographs, sent to you after treatment.

  • A call, when it matters

If we find something you should hear about before the report arrives, we phone your office.

  • Your patient, back to you

We tell patients to book the permanent restoration with you soon, because the temporary filling is not made to last.

When your patient is in pain

We keep open time on most weekdays for pain, when the schedule allows. It is never promised.

  • Tell the desk

Call and say the tooth hurts. We tell you what is possible that day, or when the next opening is.

    • Before 10 a.m. is the best time to call

    • We say yes only when we can keep the visit

  • Swelling or trouble breathing

Swelling that spreads to the face, eye or neck, or trouble breathing or swallowing, means an emergency room or 911, not a call to us first.

Reasons dentists refer to us

  • Decay close to the nerve

A tooth whose nerve is likely to be involved, and a canal system you would rather have looked at under magnification.

  • A tooth treated before

Soreness or a dark area on a radiograph on a tooth that already has a root canal.

  • A diagnosis you can't make

Pain that moves, or that doesn't match the radiograph. We test and write back, even when the answer is not a tooth.

  • A crack or an injury

A tooth that cracked, chipped or took a blow, where the question is how deep it goes.

  • Narrow or hidden canals

A tooth whose canals are hard to find or to follow.

  • A second opinion

You or your patient want another look before you decide on extraction.

Questions from dental offices

Can I email records?

Please use the secure form for anything with a patient's details. Ordinary email is not where we want health information.

Do you keep the patient afterward?

No. We treat the tooth and send the patient back to you for the permanent restoration and for regular care.

Do you place posts and crowns?

No. We place a temporary filling and leave the restoration to you.

Can you see a patient the same day?

Sometimes, for pain, when the schedule allows. We never promise it. Call and we will say what is possible.

Will you contact my patient directly?

Yes. Our referral coordinator calls the patient to book, and tells you if we could not reach them.

Ready to send a patient?

The form is on our own secure site. If you would rather talk first, call the referral desk.
