Questions we hear most
Fees
Do you take my insurance?
It depends on your plan. We file claims with the plans we are in network with, and tell you before treatment starts whether yours is one of them. Our fees page lists the types of plan.
What if I don't have insurance?
We give you a written estimate before treatment, and you pay for the visit as planned. Third-party lenders offer financing; approval and terms are set by the lender.
Do you take Medicaid or CHIP?
No. This office does not bill them. We can tell you who to call.
Can I get a written estimate before treatment?
Yes. Ask when you book, or at your exam. We give one before any treatment starts.
Treatment
Will it hurt?
We numb the tooth with local anesthetic and check that it is working before we start. Most people feel pressure and vibration, not pain. Raise a hand and we stop.
Why do I need radiographs?
A radiograph shows the roots and the bone around the tooth, and a root canal is hard to plan without one. We use small ones, and Dr. Krishnan decides which are needed.
Do I go back to my dentist afterward?
Yes. We treat the inside of the tooth and place a temporary filling. Your dentist places the permanent filling or crown, and looks after the rest of your care.
Do you offer sedation?
We treat with local anesthetic. If you are very anxious, call before your visit and we will talk about what is possible and who would give it.
Visits
Do you see children?
We see teens and adults. For a young child with tooth pain we usually suggest a pediatric dentist. Call and we will talk it through.
What counts as a dental emergency?
Swelling that spreads to your face, eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, a serious blow to the head or bleeding that won't stop. Go to an emergency room or call 911. For a knocked-out or broken tooth, call us right away.
Can you see me the same day I call?
Sometimes, for tooth pain, when the schedule allows. We never promise it. Call as early as you can and we will say what is possible.
How do I cancel or move a visit?
Please call as early as you can. A visit held for you is one a patient in pain could have used.
